Shakespeare Schnauzers

About the Schnauzer

The Miniature Schnauzer was originally bred to be rat catchers, but are wonderful family pets. The schnauzer is good with people and other animals and love to be the center of attention.

They originated from Germany, unlike other terriers (most come from Great Britain) and were created by breeding small Standard Schnauzers with Affen Pinschers and Poodles. Miniature Schnauzers are full of energy and enjoys lots of exercise.

These Terriers are sturdy dogs who enjoy children and are great watchdogs. The coat of the Schnauzer is a hard, wiry outer coat with a velvety soft undercoat. Their coats need regular professional grooming every few months, and the colors are Black, Black and Silver, and Salt and Pepper.

The hight requirement is 12-14 inches. Sometimes there are smaller Schnauzers that are called "toy", but there isn't actually a "Toy Schnauzer" breed yet.
